Katherine District Hospital is a district public hospital servicing the Katherine Region in the Northern Territory, Australia. It is located 3 km (1.9 mi) from the centre of town on the banks of the Katherine River, overlooking Knott's Crossing.
The Katherine District Hospital is an accredited 60-bed non-specialist medical, diagnostic and treatment facility, which caters for the needs of the population of Katherine Town and District.
The hospital provides a 24-hour emergency department as well as general medical and surgical wards, an operating theatre, a maternity ward, 18 bed children's ward, pathology laboratory, a radiography department equipped to perform basic x-ray and ultrasound scans, and a renal unit. Pharmacy and specialized outpatient services are also accessible.
If your problem is non-urgent you should go to your general practitioner (GP), otherwise you will only be seen after all emergencies so you may have to wait.
Katherine maternity ward has 14 beds and three birthing rooms and provides maternity care for medium and low risk pregnancies.

Childbirth education classes are held regularly.
You can attend early-bird classes from eight to 12 weeks in your pregnancy, followed by four classes from 30 weeks. Call (08) 8973 9257 to book.
General medical and surgical ward
The Jack Roney Ward is a mixed adult ward with 28 beds.
It can cater for patients with acute and chronic conditions. There are four single rooms for patients who need isolation and also a room with three monitored beds.
There is one renal dialysis chair in the ward.

The children's ward is an 18-bed facility that offers inpatient care for infants, children and adolescents.
One parent is encouraged to stay in the hospital with their child.
Children have games, books, television and videos, outdoor play equipment and a fenced play area.

You can have ultrasounds done at the hospital and are able to have a CT scan in Katherine.
You may need to travel to Darwin for certain specialised x-rays and ultrasounds.

Opening hours for the pathology laboratory are from Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 4.21pm. Weekends and public holidays from 8am to 12pm.
Visiting Katherine Hospital
The visiting hours for the Katherine Hospital are every day from 10am to 8pm.
You should check with nursing staff before visiting a patient, or if you want to visit outside normal visiting hours.
You can be refused entry to wards if you are intoxicated.
